Nilüfer Yanya is on a bit of a roll at the moment. Her EP Plant Food was dropped only last month and received critical acclaim from every notable blog and tastemaker. Capitalising on this heat, she’s just dropped ‘Baby Luv’ which comes with the tantalising promise that Yanya will be announcing another project in the coming weeks. ‘Baby Luv’ is a track Yanya has been playing live for a while now, but the recorded version is even better, contrasting her earthy vocals with moody, raw guitar licks. It’s incredibly simple – with no frills, fuss or fancy tinkering, but that’s exactly what makes Yanya so compelling. If this is a sign of things to come, Nilüfer Yanya’s next project will be pure quality. -HM
